As the race we run has started,
We are asking that the strength be imparted.
For the strength we have is not enough,
And the road we travel is rough.
The distance we travel is long,
And we ask that You make us strong.
For mortal strength is fleeting,
And by the world we are taking a beating.
May the Spirit through us flow,
And our Christ may others know.
I persevere because of the cross,
And at the finish, my crown I will toss.*
* Any rewards gained will be given back to Christ when that day comes.
